KMJ: Dorm Life

4th of May. 5 days since I left KMJ. Yeah, finally I graduated from KMJ and yays! I wouldn't say this was an easy year nor would I say this is an uneventful year. It was a year full of ups and downs, and most importantly, it was a year full of unique experiences.
~
Dorm life. Frankly I was really against the idea of sharing a room with strangers. At first. But now, I'm glad I went. I realized now that my mindset was wrong- it was sharing a room with new friends. =) My room mates are really great people. They were the ones who shared all my moments- happy or sad, and gave me support when I needed it. Even though we weren't from the same race, religion, even though all of us came from different backgrounds, speaking different slangs... For this, girls I love you. <3 I will cherish it and I hope we will cross paths again. Sometime, someday.

For my first time staying in dormitories, this was really quite eventful. I still remember the first few weeks when we experienced the first blackout. It was a shock at first. Yup, to prospective students of KMJ, don't forget to bring a torchlight. And be prepared mentally for blackouts. It is a usual occurrence. Blackouts normally last for a few minutes but the longest I experienced in my block is more than 12 hours. (Hm, as if commenting on some natural phenomena...) Thank goodness I'm not phobic of the dark.

Next on the list: water shortage. Yeah, it happened quite a few times. I know everyone in Malaysia experienced this during the hot spell. Well excluding those days (which to my surprise there wasn't any water shortage-more on that later), here's the worst that we had to do: for one whole week, I climbed down two floors to brush my teeth and clean up in the mornings. For baths, I went to the next block for consistent water supply. For preventative measures. You know, what if there's no water when your hair's full of shampoo? And I went two blocks away for washing machine. Lol. But I suppose there won't be serious problems with this the coming year since they newly repaired most of the pipings. =]

Okay, there's also the haze. THAT was around June. The haze was so serious that we got to go home for the weekend, which is something they don't usually do. By the way, we get to go home once a month. Now, how serious was the haze? There was once when all of us had to don on masks, or else it would be so hard to breathe. The surroundings were all white. Dirty white. The clothes on the line got all dusty and even the blankets in the room had a smoky smell. Ugh. The UP side was a great weekend at my aunt's. Hooray!

Without haze

With haze
Really, for petite things that are not written down or documented in any form, they will disappear. Gradually. Memories do seep away as time ticks on. Hopefully, these will put a flash of smile on my face, one day, when I read back.
